Electricity was cut to 1576 Christchurch properties on Friday night.

Power went out at 10pm in Avonhead, Broomfield, Burnside, Hyde Park, Ilam, Russley and Upper Riccarton.

Customers had power restored before midnight.

In statement online, Orion said “Power has now been fully restored. We apologise for the issues we have had trying to resolve this outage. If you do not have power please call us on 0800 363 9898.”

It’s the second power cut to hit Christchurch this week.

On Monday, as first reported by chrislynchmedia.com, power was cut to several suburbs while temperatures plummeted below zero.
