A child has been critically injured in a crash in Rolleston.
A police spokesman said the serious crash involved a vehicle and a pedestrian on Rolleston Drive near Kidman Street, Rolleston.
The crash was reported around 3:15pm and the Serious Crash Unit has been advised.
The road is blocked and diversions were in place.

A St John spokeswoman said they responded with an ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and an operations manager.
One patient was treated at the scene and transported to Christchurch Hospital in a critical condition.
Motorists were advised to alternate route, the police spokesman said.
