Former New Zealand First MP Barbara Stewart has died.
Barbara entered Parliament in 2002 for four terms, retiring in 2017.
Barbara was a staunch advocate for family issues, children, health, and senior citizens.
New Zealand First said her most notable achievement was working on the implementation of the New Zealand First policy that would see free health care become reality for those under 6 yrs old back in 2007.
“Her tireless efforts has meant that young families have the health support they need. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Barbara’s family – she will be greatly missed by all.”
National MP Judith Collins paid tribute to Barbara on X saying “Sorry to hear of the passing of Barbara Stewart. Barbara and I came into Parliament the same year. She was a very pleasant good person who always had a cheery smile for everyone RIP.”
Barbara Stewart was 72.
