A Jetstar spokesperson stated that after landing in Christchurch, the aircraft experienced a steering issue, causing it to veer off the runway at low speed.
There were no injuries to passengers or crew.
The aircraft was towed to the gate, and all passengers disembarked safely. The flight, JQ225, was traveling from Auckland to Christchurch.
The main runway at Christchurch Airport reopened at 9:00 a.m. after a thorough inspection and cleaning by the Transport Accident Investigation Commission.
The terminal remained open throughout the morning.
The airfield was closed to aircraft until the crosswind runway was reopened.
An Air New Zealand spokesman said “our services in and out of Christchurch Airport were temporarily paused this morning.
“Seven Air New Zealand services bound for Christchurch were diverted to another port or returned to the port of origin as a result of the closure.
