There are now 6 positive COVID-19 cases at Rangiora High school.
Principal Karen Stewart said “ this morning we were advised of a third student who has tested positive for COVID-19.”
“All three positive cases are from one household. The cases are in Years 9, 12 and 13. Their infectious period was 14-17 February.”
“Additionally, we are currently working on contact tracing for three more positive cases. We will email the close contacts of these cases as soon as we can. The infectious period for these three additional cases again appears to be last week.”
“For each case we are undertaking a thorough contact tracing process using the tool supplied to us by the Ministries of Education and Health.”
This third case has generated a small number of close contacts at school.
These students’ families have already received a specific email informing them of this classification and what action they need to take.
“We will notify the close contacts of the other three cases as soon as we have finished contact tracing. Please check your email inbox regularly.”
“Unless identified as a close contact by Ministry of Health officials, your child is able to continue their day-to-day activities at school as normal, with a major emphasis on watching for any symptoms. If any develop, get tested immediately, then stay at home until you receive the result. If your child tests positive, please advise the school by telephoning 03 3118888.”
School will be operating as normal on Monday 21 February.
“The school continues to practice good ventilation protocols in indoor spaces. Now more than ever, it is very important that all students wear a mask when indoors and on school buses, and maintain good hygiene practices throughout the day.”
