Emergency services are the the scene after a pedestrian has been struck by a truck on State Highway 1, Kaiapoi around 12noon. Police spokesperson said that the pedestrian is in critical condition.

There is heavy traffic in the area, which is building up following the crash.

Transport Agency said the road is closed between William Street and State Highway 71. They are advising motorists to avoid the area at the moment.
