Police have located the man they were hunting in relation to the death of Connor Whitehead.

Armed police apprehended the man in Avonside this evening.

Resident Tim Shaw said the man came out of a house on Rowcliffe Crescent and was arrested by Armed Offenders Squad officers at 5.20pm.

Detective Senior Sergeant Nicola Reeves, confirmed the arrest saying “police have this afternoon located a man they were seeking in relation to the death of Connor Whitehead.”

“The man was taken into custody at a residential address in Avonside.”

In a video sent to Chris Lynch Media, the suspect is seen on the road with his hands in the air.

He then places his hands behind his back.

Shaw said there’s a heavy police presence in and around surrounding streets.

At a press conference this afternoon, Detective Senior Sergeant Nicola Reeves said police were seeking a fifth person in relation to the murder and have a message to those helping him: “We urge you to put yourself in the shoes of Connor’s family. Connor had his whole life ahead of him.”

“The purpose of today is to appeal to that person that now is the time for you to come forward and speak with us. For anybody who is out there or assisting this person, and anyway, they need to contact us. Because we will be looking to hold anybody to account who is helping this person evade.”
