Three youths have been taken into custody following a burglary in Lyttelton and for failing to stop for police.
A police spokesman told Chris Lynch Media they responded to reports of a burglary at a store on London Street around 3am.
Fresh Choice supermarket was targeted.
The vehicle was observed on Dyers Road, travelling onto Colombo Street and spikes were successfully deployed around 3:20am.
However, the driver continued through Beckenham, Opawa, Philipstown, Linwood, Richmond, and St Albans,
Police followed from a distance.
A second set of spikes were successfully deployed bringing the vehicle to a stop, on the corner of Bishop and Canon Street.
Three youths were taken into custody.
Youths between the ages of 14 and 16 are due to appear in Christchurch District Youth Court, in due course, on a range of charges including burglary, unlawfully taking/ getting into a motor vehicle, and driving related charges.
Meanwhile, police responded to reports of a burglary at a store on Waimari Road in Ilam, around 2:50am.
A police spokesman said items from the burglary were located on Marsh’s road.
Enquiries are ongoing including to locate those involved and determined what was stolen.
